The first phase of a three-year concession revitalisation plan will see the airport introduce food and beverage and retail outlets that put “the LA back into LAX” by reflecting the best of Los Angeles diverse cuisine, culture and lifestyle.

Most recently, LAX opened a Kitson LA boutique on 2 April 2012 in Terminal 7, offering customers a range of trendy, inexpensive items to high-end clothing and accessories photographed on celebrities passing through LAX.

The airport will also open Skewers by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto in Terminal 5 and Wolfgang Puck Express in Terminal 7 shortly, with many more to be complete by the end of the year.

Phase 2 of the concessions revitalisation programme will be overseen by Westfield Concession Management LLC, who won a 17-year Terminal Commercial Manager Concessions Agreement to develop, lease and manage food and beverage, retail, specialty retail and certain other passenger services at LAX in January 2012.

Westfield and its concessionaires (which have not yet been announced) will be required to invest US$81.9 million in initial improvements and US$16.4 million in mid-term refurbishments to four facilities: the existing Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) with 30+ airlines, New TBIT currently under construction, Terminal 2 (LAX’s second busiest international terminal with 15 air carriers), and the airport’s iconic Theme Building, which houses a destination restaurant and a cafeteria.

These new concepts will open beginning Spring 2013 through 2014….
