Aircraft clips wing of another plane at LAX: LA Times

[LA Times] Passengers aboard a small plane bound for Palm Springs were frightened Friday night when the wing of their aircraft struck another plane as it backed out of its gate, according to FAA Spokesman Ian Gregor.

The United Express plane, an Embraer E-120, which is operated by SkyWest Airlines, was pushing out of its gate around 8:15 p.m. when its left wing struck the right wing of a similar plane parked nearby, Gregor said.

About 25 passengers and three crew members were on the plane at the time of the incident, he said. The aircraft was not being directed by FAA air traffic contollers, he said…..
